Barcelona vs Espanyol, the Catalan derby

With no worries left after they’ve booked their ticket to Wembley, the leader of Primera Division turned his attention to the league setting on Camp Nou a local battle against their old time rivals RCD Espanyol.

In order to secure their title as soon as possible, Pep Guardiola sent out his strongest, and fittest, line-up.

The 29 minute was the minute when Barcelona took the lead, thanks to some wonderful footwork by Andres Iniesta. After playing a one-two with Fontas, he ran forward slid a shot into the bottom left corner of the net.
Starting the second half, and with less than two minutes gone, FC Barcelona scored their second goal of the evening. Xavi made his way in a corner, and Pique battled hard with the defenders and sent a downward header that overtook Espanyol’s goalkeeper.

Espanyol struggled to keep up with Guardiola’s soldiers but with no chance to succeed.

Since the beginning of the season, no team has managed to score a goal against FC Barcelona in the first 15 minutes and has not lost their last 27 official home games in all competitions.
