Spanish Cup riding low

This was a moment that nobody will forget as Real Madrid’s defender, Sergio Ramos, has dropped from his hands the Spanish Cup trophy, Thursday night as Real Madrid players headed to Cibeles Square in a bus to celebrate the win in the final against Barcelona.

The incident happened at 4.15 pm, when Madrid’s players were showing the trophy for thousands of fans presents on route. Sergio Ramos has dropped the cup from his hands and it fell in front of the bus, which passed over it.

Luckily the driver stopped immediately and brought the trophy from under the wheels of the vehicle. The Cup was sent to the jeweler who made it to be rebuilt, and those of Real Madrid have received a copy of it.

Real Madrid team defeated 1-0 after extra time, FC Barcelona, Wednesday evening on Valencia’s Mestalla Stadium, and won the King’s Cup for the 18th time in history and for the first time since 1993. The only goal of a very balanced match was scored by Cristian Ronaldo, in the 102 minute.

Bayern, change from staff to style

Approaching the final of this season, Bayern Munich is renewing everything. Starting from next season they will have another coach on the bench in the person of Jupp Heynckes, another goalkeeper in the person of Manuel Neuer from Schalke, and going even further in changing style with a different equipment than that which is currently worn by the players.

The club management decided to abandon the retro style, reminiscent of the ’70s in favor of a combination of red and gold. T-shirts and shorts will be red and the other elements (stripes on the arms, the emblem of the manufacturer, Adidas, the four stars on his chest) will be golden.

Gold was also present in the away equipment of multiple champions Germany from 2004-2006. Then the germans developed completely yellow shirt and black shorts.

Bayern Munich is currently in third place in Bundesliga with 55 points, with 14 points behind the leader Borussia Dormund and with only 6 points behind Leverkusen, the second in lead.

With only 4 stages remaining from this season of Bundesliga, Bayern Munich is already thinking to the next season, with big hopes and expectations.

Change at Chelsea?

After the last rumors from Chelsea regarding the firing of Carlo Ancelotti, news flashed out from each corner about his successor for Abramovich’s team. Ancelotti is reserved in declarations about his possible departure.

Carlo Ancelotti: “I do not know what the future holds. At the end of the season, the club can decide if they want to continue with me or change me. If they are not satisfied, than they can easily change me. This is not a problem.”

The primer subject in replacement at Stamford Bridge is Pep Guardiola, the main target and 1st enemy of Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti will be sacked after the Champions League elimination and Abramovich has set his sights on who created the current Barcelona team.

Guardiola recently signed a 12-month extension at Barcelona. But this won’t stop Abramovich, who hopes to lure him to coach in England, especially as he recently said he will not stay long on the Camp Nou.

El clasico, a well deserved draw

What was the most expected game of the Primera Division happened yesterday. The duel between Barcelona and Real Madrid promised a spectacle. But like in football with a round ball in the centre of action, the end of the game turned into a draw, a 1-1 score and with the 49th goal of the season for Messi who breaks another record.

Guardiola: “I think it’s a good result, considering we played with a great team. We are satisfied. Anything could happen in this game. We could lose. We have eight points more and a better goal difference, with six stages before the final.”

Murinho: “All my men did a good job. We moved our lines further back tonight in order to play a more straightforward game. Adebayor provided the speed and depth in counterattack we needed. We managed to draw and nearly won the match thanks to hard work and the support of a fantastic crowd. We must accept the draw given the circumstances that arose in the game.”

Barcelona’s players were unhappy of the conditions on Bernabeu:
“The field was good, but the grass was too big, too high. But at home they can do what they want.” Puyol said.

Schalke way over Inter

The quarter finals from UEFA Champions League offered us a show that worth all the money. Schalke and Inter battled to obtain the qualification in the next stage. The second leg of the quarter final started with a big advantage of 3 goals after the first stage result, 5-2 for Schalke.

Teams:

Schalke: Neuer, Sarpei, Howedes, Raul, Edu, Baumjohann, Papadopoulos, Jurado, Metzelder, Uchida, Matip
Substitutes: Schober, Plestan, Junmin, Schmitz, Charisteas, Karimi, Draxler

Exactly like the first leg, Schalke’s players were more lucid, with more ideas in construction and with a Raul of genius. They started the scoreboard in 45 min. through Raul’s strike. At this time Inter is 5 goals under qualification.

A spark of hope comes in for Inter in 49th minute, after Thiago Motta puts the ball in the net.

Qualification with an overall score of 7-3 for Schalke is obtain in minute 82 when Howedes, served by Raul, scores sealing the deal.

Schalke will meet Manchester United in the next stage.
